Lowvision

Lowvision introduces the idea that when one becomes overwhelmed by one aspect of life, whether it be love, work, art, hate, one begins to see nothing else.

The world becomes filtered through that one feeling or idea.

Song

When I close my eyes, I see music as pictures in my mind, mostly of circles of differing sizes. I have always seen music this way, more than hear it. I have never been able to tell if the circles move and change their size and position as a reaction to the music or if the changes in the circles is making the music change and move.

This painting is a representation of what I see when I hear a particular song.

Unfinished

This is my most recent work, and although she was completed some time ago, I am yet to fire her.

She is leaning her head, eyes closed, into the life giving sunlight to recharge her energies.

Delores

Delores is fantastic! She is of an age when things don't always make sense like they used to, and where a a glass or two of bubbly is sometimes too much. I made Delores as a gift for a friends wedding and found that she was immediately loved by her new family. It was like adopting an extra, yet outrageous grandparent.

Delores is a scream to be around, she smokes too much and doesn't care that two glasses of champagne send her loopy, its just all the more fun to her. She loves getting dressed up to go out, but her eyes aren't as reliable as they used to be so she often gets her make up on a bit think and blotchy, but there is no way she ask for help. According to Delores, "the day you cant put on your own lippy, or light your own fag is the day you should be dead". She staggers on her high heels and often gets her dress caught in her stockings in the bathroom, but she couldn't care less what you think of her, she's only here for the laughs. (©2007) embeeart

Darner

Darner is to be a dragonfly queen, although she is not yet completed. She is awaiting a paint job and a set of wings. Her wings will not be made from pottery, but will be made from natural found objects.
Some say that Dragonflies were connected to Freya the Norse goddess of love, fertility and warfare. Freya was famous for her beauty and her knowledge as a magician. The paired bodies of mating dragonflies form the shape of a heart, perhaps being the source for that modern symbol of love. In ancient lore, the dragonfly represents transformation, adaptation and insight.

Others say that the Dragonfly symbolizes illusion and dreams, and say that the Dragonfly is the power of light. The dragonfly inhabits two realms: air and water and the influence of both these elements will be felt by Dragonfly people. People who feel closely associated with the Dragonfly will be emotional and passionate during their early years (water) and more balanced with greater mental clarity and control in as they mature (air).

PAN

Pan spends all of his time outside, and spends all day laughing and signing to the wind. Pan is full of unbridled passion and finds it hard to contain himself.
Pan takes great delight in teasing and scaring anyone who passes him by and is often the cause of shivers up the back of your neck, followed by belly fulls of raucous laughter. Pan loves a good drink and will share a good bottle (or 3) of red with anyone, though dont expect to get much!
Pan is always ready to celebrate and will find any excuse for dinking dancing and loving.

Ruby

Ruby was my first sculpture and is one of my favourites.

Ruby has spent allot of her life on the outside. She has an overwhelming love of nature and of all the people who inhabit the earth. Ruby once spent 8 days chained to a tree, and while she was protesting the logging of old growth forests, she actually found what she felt was her home high up in the canopy.

Ruby is a gentle soul to whom laughter comes easily, and she is a calming influence on anyone who comes into contact with her.
